A secured bike shelter is a fully enclosed bike storage facility with an access control system. Users identify themselves (via key, badge, code, or smartphone using ByApp), the door opens, they park their bike on a bike rack, and close the door behind them. Bikes are thus protected from weather and theft. See our guide to locking systems for comparison.
In common usage, a bike locker often refers to an individual compartment (such as our Box Buisson) where each bike has its own enclosed space. A communal bike storage room is a shared, enclosed area where multiple bikes are parked together. Both offer enhanced security compared to open shelters.
ByCommute’s secured bike shelters start at €4,500 ex. VAT. The final price depends on several factors: dimensions (length × depth), material (steel, Thermowood timber, shipping container…), locking system (key, badge, keypad, ByApp), and options (solar kit, double-deck configuration…). Yes! With our solar kit, you can convert any bike shelter into an autonomous charging station for e-bikes. The kit includes solar panels, lithium batteries, charge controller, and charging points. No electrical grid connection required—ideal for remote or temporary sites.
Our secured bike shelters comply with applicable ISO standards. Certifications vary by model (e.g., Bosquet, Maritime, etc.). For specific requirements (public tenders, ERP compliance, etc.), contact us with your specifications, and we’ll provide the corresponding documentation.
The Alvéole Plus and OEPV programs have ended, but other funding remains available: Green Fund, FEDER, and regional grants. Secured bike shelters are often prioritized in project calls. Condition: the shelter must generally include at least 8 parking spaces. Our team supports you throughout the application process. See our 2026 Subsidy Guide.
